:Current News:

After my 1st public appearance as "Blue Django" (bowler hat) in Jurnet's Bar
on the 20.04.2012 and have another spacer coming up as "Eric Sawyer" with "Hard Rain" at The Lion Inn in Thurne on the 25.05.2012 ; where I'll don my classic cowboy hat and roll as 'Eric Sawyer' (not my pseudonym)

Update: 09.04.2011 :  What a privilege to share the stage with HARD RAIN again on 30.03.2011 at Dog Inn in Ludham and another spacer coming up at The Woods End in Bramerton on 14.04.2012

I've also got another spacer coming up on April, 20 - 2012 at The Music House in Norwich.  Come along and enjoy a pint and some homespun magic.

Update: 27.02.2012 : Played a spacer (small set) partly on my own, and partly with the awesome 'Hard Rain' again, at the Dog Inn, Ludham on 25.02.2012.

After playing a set of seven tunes in-between the 'Hard Rain' sets on 7.01.2012, I had a series of cool jams in South Africa with some fellow gypsy style jammers, doing blues, rock and even a spot of free-jazz-improv. with Michelle Ward. (ref: A Journey Through The Past

After settling down in the really HOT climate of the Cape for my three weeks in the mountains above False Bay, I managed to record a couple of jam sessions with three old friends of mine.

South African Gospel Singer

Michelle Ward and I have been friends for many years and I participated in a jam with friends and family which lasted about three hours, and right at the end of the gig we tried out an instrumental I composed over the last two heavy snows in North Walsham, UK.

"LANDSCAPE UNKNOWN"
Eric Sawyer (guitar) and Michelle Ward (voice)

That's me (with the huge smile) with "Michael Kuhnert" ( a legendary South African guitarist and artist )
What follows is a nylon string jam, recorded through my Sony mp3 player and boosted later.
I wrote this song on my way home from a jam session at 'The Music House' in Norwich, sometime in 2009.
Here we are jamming it at my son's spot in the mountains above Simonstown.

"SUMMERGIRL"

"BARRIE ELLIOT" (South African actor and guitarist) and I jammed up a storm at his spot in Muizenberg
The following tune was twice as long as this edited version and we owe it all to
Neil Young for coming up with such a timeless hit.
"Rockin' in the Free World"
(our acoustic version)

I am currently planning to play as many in-between-sets and open mike gigs I can find, with hopes of forming a  loose affiliation of fellow gypsy style jammers, magicians, clowns and whoever can tap a spoon, play a fiddle and  harmonize to whatevah!

Before I reset the genre from Blues to Rock, 'When A Woman Cries' was in 3rd place on the ReverbNation Norwich, UK Blues charts for over a year.
'And The Summertime' reached 9th place on the ReverbNation Norwich, UK Rock charts,
before I changed my genre setting to Folk after which 'Mom's Taxi' rose to
1st place on the ReverbNation Norwich, UK Folk charts, and am currently no.2 Norwich Blues Charts.

Now you know what to do, let's hear from you. Smile

(Smoke Stack Lightning UK)
June 2011 - October 2011

During June 2011, I answered an advert at Join My Band and began rehearsing with a local band of musicians.  We started out as a six member band:  3 electric guitarists, a drummer, bassist and vocalist (harmonica) and eventually ended up being a four piece band consisting of the bassist 'Rene Bosman' (founder), electric lead guitarist 'James Wesley', drummer 'Paul Wright' and myself 'Eric Sawyer' doing lead vocals and harmonica.

Here are two videos which were recorded in October 2011 at Earth Studios, Norwich.
