Griffon Area Partnership
Griffon is a Partnership between members of the community, local councils and a range of public and private bodies whose actions affect the people who live in North Walsham and its surrounding parishes. The purpose is to work together to champion and strengthen our community, both economically and socially, working to an agreed Action Plan.
Griffon is a registered charity (N0: 1104364) and a company limited by guarantee (No: 5020249). Griffon is also a membership organisation (cost 5 per year). Trustees form the board and their task is to ensure the company is solvent, is properly run and works within its charitable objectives. The Griffon Representatives Group meets quarterly, which oversees and scrutinises the Action Plan.
Historically, following a Market Towns Audit, the Charity was successful in its first year in acquiring funding to support an ambitious programme of work. The 2004-06 Action Plan identified key priorities which depended upon community involvement for their completion. The Partnership established itself during that time. The Board ensures that the legal objectives of the Partnership are met and that there is strong and effective governance.
The success of the Partnership is dependent on broadening and strengthening its members' involvement and the funding requested from North Norfolk Community Partnership in the business plan, will enable that process to be maintained and managed to achieve the vision of the Partnership for the future.
The Partnership's geographical area compromises the market town of North Walsham, and the surrounding 25 Parishes, which are (in alphabetical order):
