An amazing collection of over 250 photographs by prolific North Walsham photographer Fred Mace. Fred photographed the streets, buildings and businesses of North Walsham from the 1950s to the 1980s during which time the town saw the loss of many old areas of the town such as Dog Yard, Ship Yard, Back Street, Catchpit Lane, etc. He also captured their replacements; the new roads, new buildings and a major restructuring of the way we used the town with the arrival of the bypass, Folgate Road industrial estate and many other modifications. His photographs provide a fascinating insight into the evolution of North Walsham in the mid 20th century. Professionally printed, top quality soft cover 144 page A5 book. The Official Guide to North Walsham 2019-2020 is available now. After a 6 year lapse the guide is back and it's bigger and better than ever before. Thanks to the kind support of so many of the town's businesses the Official Town Guide for 2019-2020 is 144 pages of full colour on high quality paper, professionally printed locally (none of your on-demand digital printing lark) for a quality, long lasting book to treasure. Including extensive current information and history of the town all backed up with plenty of photos old and new. The unprecedented support from local businesses has enabled us to produce 10,000 copies and, with the help of "Just North Walsham", deliver them free to all the homes in North Walsham as well as many pick-up points in the area for those not within North Walsham itself. The guide is also being distributed outside the area to encourage people further afield to visit the town and also to all the businesses in town. The guide is also being stocked by all the town's estate agents and the sales offices of the new estates popping up around the town for those moving in to the area. The goal of the guide is to be available for all those who live, work, visit and are moving to the area. The guide is also available to order on-line. [01/06/19]
