General William Booth's Motorcade in North Walsham Market Place.

William Booth photographed in North Walsham Market Place around 1910. William Booth was an English Methodist preacher who, along with his wife Catherine Booth, founded the Salvation Army in 1865 (initially known as the East London Christian Mission) when William Booth preached his first open-air sermon outside the Blind Beggar on Whitechapel Road in East London. He is commemorated by a nearby statue.
William Booth became its first "General" (1878–1912). In a BBC poll William Booth was named as one of the 100 Greatest Britons. William Booth was born on 10th April 1829 and lived until 20th August 1912.
